Last December, proprietors of the venue at Calle Duque de Alba – a space in which we have been renting since 2014– communicated to us that they wanted to sell the property. Anyone of us who participates in social and political projects based in Madrid knows the value that spaces like this have, especially in a moment when gentrification processes aim to rid all reality that does not fit in with its economic criteria.
For this reason, Senda de Cuidados, the Red Interlavapiés, and Traficantes de Sueños are investing in maintaining this meeting space and space of collective construction for Lavapiés and Madrid as a whole. We have decided to buy the venue!

What We Need Right Now
This is an over 1.5 million Euro project that will include the purchasing of the facility as well as specific renovations and building improvements that will permit the growth of and increase in the city’s socio-political movements as a whole.
This disbursement requires an enormous effort from the implicated collectives. We are working within our networks of financing of the social economies of solidarity to achieve this, specifically with reference to COOP57. However, the challenge is such that it is only possible with #ConVosostrasSí.
We now need to contribute 300,000 Euros. Between Traficantes, Senda de Cuidados and the Red Interlavapiés we have raised 150,000 Euros. To achieve our goal, every single contribution from any one with whom we have built networks of resistance over these years is absolutely essential.
